Mountain Vista Governor’s School is a regional program for academically talented and highly motivated rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. Science, mathematics, humanities, and research courses are uniquely integrated to provide a college-level, project-based learning environment.

Summer Residential Governor's School
Applications for 2019 Summer Residential Governor’s School will begin being accepted during the Fall term. Students, who should be nominated by a teacher, must be in 10th or 11th grade and enrolled during the 2018-2019 school year. There are three areas to choose from, plus the Foreign Language Academies. High school students who participate in Summer Residential Governor's School spend 3-5 weeks on a college campus immersed in intellectually challenging activities.
Academic areas: Agriculture, Humanities, Math/Science/Technology
Visual and Performing Arts areas: Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Dance, Visual Art, or Theater
Mentorship programs give students work-type experiences in Life Sciences and Medicine, Engineering with NASA and the NIA, or in Marine Science at VIMS.
Students in summer Foreign Language Academies spend three weeks at the residential Governor's school. Choices include a Latin Academy, partial-immersion Japanese program, and full-immersion programs in French, German, and Spanish.
